USA Swimming Sectionals, College Station: Kirsty Coventry Makes Longhorn Return; Palo Alto’s Jasmine Tosky Dominates

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 4. THE USA Swimming Sectionals held in College Station, Texas, featured the return of an Olympian to American-based training, while Palo Alto's Jasmine Tosky put together a stellar run of swims.

Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry made her return to competitive swimming as a Longhorn with a victory in the women's 400 free when she clocked a 4:18.20. Coventry returned the following night with a 4:42.84 to win the women's 400 IM.

Palo Alto's Jasmine Tosky cruised to victory in the women's 200 fly with a 2:10.14. Her second triumph came by way of a 2:30.27 in the women's 200 breast. The trifecta went down with a 59.74 to win the women's 100 fly. Tosky started the final night of action with a fourth meet title, when she hit the wall in 1:10.02 to win the women's 100 breast.

Omar Enriquez won the men's 200 fly in 2:03.49, then doubled up with a 4:01.44 to win the men's 400 free. Fort Worth's Julia Anderson tied Palo Alto's Rachael Acker for the women's 100 free title with matching 56.31s. Anderson moved on to win the women's 200 free in 2:00.24. Acker then won the women's 50 free on the final night with a 26.27.

Nitro's Herbert Mendoza clocked an 8:20.37 to win the men's 800 free. He claimed a second title with a 4:29.01 in the men's 400 IM. North Texas' Aaron Greene turned in a 2:01.31 to win the men's 200 back. Greene doubled up with a 56.72 to win the men's 100 back.

Longhorn's Chris Schurr won the men's 200 breast in 2:14.56. He swept the breaststroke events with a 1:02.59 to win the men's 100 breast. Palo Alto's Phil Morrison claimed the men's 200 free in 1:52.51. Morrison came back with a win in the men's 50 free with a 23.34.

Katy's Cameron McHugh won the women's 1500 free in 17:06.18, while Texas A&M's Megan Latone clocked a 2:13.91 to win the women's 200 back. Irvine's Ella Eastin won the women's 100 back in 1:02.44.

Alamo Area's John Murray topped the men's 100 free in 51.16, while Gray Umbach clinched the men's 100 fly in 54.83.

Results from the men's and women's 200 IMs, the women's 800 free and men's 1500 free were not available.
