USA Swimming Long Course Nationals: Kathleen Hersey Dominates 200 Fly Finale

PALO ALTO, California, August 5. KATHLEEN Hersey gave Longhorn its second consecutive title tonight with a dominant effort in the women's 200 fly at the USA Swimming Long Course Nationals.

Hersey clocked a 2:07.61 for the win, her third straight title and fourth in her career in the event. Hersey has been faster this year with a 10th-ranked season best effort of 2:06.89 from June.

Trojan's Lyndsay De Paul clocked a distant second in 2:09.47, while Germantown's Teresa Crippen grabbed third in 2:10.08. New York's Kim Vandenberg (2:10.14), Stanford's Elaine Breeden (2:10.28), Tennessee's Kelsey Floyd (2:10.77), SwimMAC's Katherine Mills (2:11.51), Tucson Ford's Alyssa Anderson (2:11.71), NOVA's Alison Haulsee (2:11.96) and Stanford's Andi Taylor (2:12.15) also vied for the national title this evening.

Western Kentucky's Claire Donahue turned in a 2:10.16 to win the B final, with Aggie's Natalie Adams taking second in the heat with a 2:10.48. Meanwhile, Sandpipers' Olivia Barker cut more than three seconds from her prelim time with a C final winning time of 2:11.65 out of lane 10.
