USA Swimming has launched a new podcast called “Kick Set” that is available on Sound Cloud and iTunes. The first episode was launched on Wednesday with host Dan McCarthy where he talked to Stanford women’s coach Greg Meehan. The podcast will feature coaches, athletes and staff members on various topics around the sport of swimming. There will be twelve episodes in 2018 with one episode being released per month.

Meehan is the head coach of the reigning women’s national champions Stanford, where he helped coached 2017 World Championship team members Katie LedeckySimone Manuel and Lia Neal. Meehan was also on the 2016 Olympic team staff where he coached individual gold medalists Manuel and Maya DiRado.

Meehan discussed his rise to the top of the coaching world in this edition of the podcast as well as his roots in the Philadelphia area and his thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles in the impending NFC Championship Game.

The second episode is set to be released February 21 and will feature another of Manuel’s former coaches in Allison Beebe. Beebe is the high performance coach at Santa Clara Swim Club in California. Beebe formerly coached Manuel at First Colony Swim Team in Texas, where she helped mentor Manuel to one of the best high school swimmers in the country where she made the 2013 World Championship team in the 50 free and 4×100 free relay, as well as winning two national titles the summer before she went to Stanford.
