USA Swimming Foundation Names Chief Development Officer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, January 2. THE USA Swimming Foundation, the fundraising arm of Colorado Springs-based USA Swimming, has named Christopher A. LaBianco, Sr. as its chief development officer. LaBianco joins the organization from Changing Our World, Inc., a fundraising firm launched in 2000 in which he is an original co-founder.

In his new role, LaBianco will direct fundraising efforts for the Olympic governing body. The USA Swimming Foundation aims to use the sport of swimming to make communities better and counts among its top priorities making all children water safe, bringing the sport to underserved populations and using swimming to promote a healthy lifestyle.

"We are thrilled to have Christopher on board to lead our dedicated Foundation staff in developing these important initiatives," said Chuck Wielgus, executive director of USA Swimming. "We know how important it is both to our organization, and to communities across the nation, that we are successful in reaching our goals of reducing drowning, increasing diversity in the sport and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Christopher brings the experience, charisma and dedication to lead us in this venture."

Prior to his work with Changing Our World, Inc., LaBianco spent five years with the New Jersey Hospital Association, served as an elected Councilman in Leonia, New Jersey and worked in various capacities with several members of Congress, including Congressman Steve Rothman and U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg from New Jersey.

LaBianco holds a Masters degree from Farleigh Dickinson University and completed his undergraduate work at Auburn University. He attended Auburn University on a swimming athletic scholarship and was captain of the Auburn Swim Team in 1991-1992. In addition, LaBianco is a Charter Board Member of the Wheelchair Sports Federation. He and his family will relocate to Colorado Springs in early 2008.
