COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five members of the Ohio State Synchronized Swimming team — Emma Baranski, Elizabeth Davidson, Lorraine Hack, Alyssa Hoying and Monica Velasquez-Stiak – have been selected to the US Senior National Training Squad.

Over the next four years, the squad members will be invited to regular training camps and some of them will be selected to participate in world class competitions such as the 2017 FINA Aquatic World Championships, the 2018 FINA Synchronized Swimming World Series, the 2019 Pan-American games, the 2019 FINA Aquatic World Championships and ultimately the 2020 Olympics Games.

The first of two training camps was held last week in Moraga, Calif., where the group of 24 invitees was trimmed to 14. All five Buckeyes made the cut. The next training session is scheduled for November 9-15 in San Antonio, Texas.

“These five student-athletes are the epitome of elite performers who know, first and foremost, what it means to be a team player,” said Ohio State head coach Holly Vargo Brown.  “It is so very exciting that they are now in a position to be part of Team USA. They work so hard every day.  We are all incredibly happy for them and their success.”
