On Saturday, the University of Indianapolis and the University of Cincinnati swim teams joined forces for an annual cancer walk after the two teams did battle in the pool on Friday evening. The teams volunteered at the Light the Night walk at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Indianapolis.

The UIndy Greyhounds were supporting the walk in honor of head coach Jason Hite’s son Ethan, who is a leukemia survivor. They participate in the event every year and asked the Bearcats of Cincinnati after their meet on Friday if they would stay and participate in the event.

The walk ended up getting cancelled due to the weather, but the teams still helped register walkers, took donations, passed out food and played games with event participants.

Cincinnati swept the men’s and women’s meets on Friday night with Indianapolis, but the teams put that behind them to join forces to raise awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.

The University of Indianapolis contributed to this report.
