UCLA May Win Women’s Pac-10 Title in Recount

By Phillip Whitten

LOS ANGELES, March 5. NOTHING is official yet, but rumors are swirling around the UCLA campus as well as at other schools in the Pac-10 Conference, that UCLA will be declared the winner of the women's Pac-10 title after a recount of the team scores is completed. Arizona was originally declared the winner with a narrow win over UCLA and USC.

As of 2:00 p.m., California time, nothing official has been released by spokespersons for the Pac-10 or for UCLA. However, knowledgeable sources indicate that an error in the computation of the diving scores in the team race is being corrected. When the correction is made, it is alleged that UCLA–not Arizona–will be the 2001 Pac-10 champion.

We will update this story as news is received.
