U.S. Olympic Trials Poll: Which Two Athletes Will Qualify for Paris Games in Women’s 100 Backstroke (VOTE HERE)
U.S. Olympic Trials Poll: Who Will Qualify for the Paris Games in the Women’s 100 Backstroke (VOTE HERE)
By its nature, the United States Olympic Trials does not feature many “weak” events on the program. The depth of the American arsenal is incredible, with several Olympic-medal contenders left home each Olympiad due to the Games’ two-athletes-per-nation limit. Still, there are a few events every quadrennial that stand out above the rest. This summer, the women’s backstroke events will be can’t-miss competition.
For our latest poll, Swimming World is asking readers to select the two swimmers they believe will qualify to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games in the women’s 100-meter backstroke. Fourteen athletes head to Trials in Indianapolis with sub-minute seed times, an illustration of the United States’ power in the event. Regan Smith, the American-record holder, is the top seed at 57.51.
In our most recent poll, Carson Foster was the readers’ top choice to qualify for the Paris Games in the men’s 200 individual medley, followed by Shaine Casas and Chase Kalisz. Casas was the No. 2 pick by a slim margin, grabbing 21% of the votes, compared to 20% for Kalisz. Will the results of the women’s 100 backstroke be just as close? Cast your vote and let’s see what unfolds.
