While American swimmers have zoned in on this month’s U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, the gifted few who make the Olympic Team will quickly turn their sights to Rio. That Olympic team will train together from July 13 until the start of the Games on August 6.

From July 13 to 21, the team will be at the Northside ISD Swim Center in San Antonio, Texas. From there, they will head to Atlanta, after last month’s news that the team would not be continuing on to Puerto Rico, due to Zika concerns.

The pool in San Antonio should be familiar to many, as it was the site of the 2015 USA Swimming Phillips 66 National championships. The facility has one outdoor long course pool, a short course yards diving pool and an indoor 50-meter pool that predated the rest of the facility. It has been home to Annie Grevers and 2012 Olympian Jimmy Feigen.

Feigen, a San Antonio native, currently training with SwimMAC told the local news, “The whole swimming community’s put a lot of faith in San Antonio to produce the kind of results we had in London again in Brazil. I think they put a lot of faith in San Antonio and I don’t see San Antonio letting them down.”

One of the team’s practices in San Antonio will be open to the public.

Local sights like the Alamo and the Riverwalk, which were popular among last summer’s national meet attendees, could serve as tourist sights for the athletes in their down time.
