Tristen Ulett, Murilo Sartori, Dalton Lowe, Denis Petrashov Lead Louisville to Sweep of Notre Dame

The Louisville Cardinals were in action Friday afternoon in South Bend, Ind., against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the first time since a split against Tennessee four weeks ago. This time, Louisville was dominant as the women beat Notre Dame 191 to 109 behind three individual wins from junior Tristen Ulett, while Murilo Sartori, Dalton Lowe and Denis Petrashov were each double winners in a 172-128 win for the Louisville men.

Ulett opened the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.39, and she later added a 50.03 triumph in the 100 free. Finally, Ulett won the 200 IM in 2:01.89, with teammate Abby Hay finishing five hundredths behind (2:01.94). Also winning multiple events for the Cardinals were Liberty Williams in the 1000 free (10:00.73) and 500 free (4:53.24) and Cecilia Viberg in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.41) and 200 breast (2:17.34).

Louisville’s Christiana Regenauer won the 50 free in 22.92, while Jordan Durocher took the 200 backstroke by one hundredth over Notre Dame’s Madelyn Christman, 1:59.07 to 1:59.08. Finally, emerging star Gabi Albiero cruised to a win in the 100 butterfly in 52.79. Hay, Viberg, Albiero and Regenauer edged out Notre Dame for the win in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 1:39.37, while Regenauer, Ella WelchJulia Dennis and Albiero cruised to a 400 free relay triumph in 3:20.33.

For Notre Dame, the only swimming victories came courtesy of Christman in the 100 back (54.40) and Coleen Gillilan in the 200 fly (1:59.12), while Claie Brady (1-meter) and Allie Klein (3-meter) were both diving winners.

In the men’s competition, Sartori won the 200 free (1:34.79) and 100 free (43.84), while Lowe won the 100 back (47.15) and 100 fly (43.84). Petrashov dominated the breaststroke events with times of 54.30 in the 100 and 1:57.87 in the 200. Haridi Sameh took the 50 free in 19.88, and Charlie Crush won the 200 IM in 1:49.73. Adam Sheden took a win in 1-meter diving.

Lowe, Petrashov, Sameh and Michael Eastman won the 200 medley relay in 1:26.29, and the win in the 400 free relay went to Sameh, Sartori, Lowe and Eastman in 2:53.35.

Notre Dame senior Jack Hoagland won the 1000 free (9:04.86) and 500 free (4:23.31), while Cason Wilburn won the 200 fly (1:47.37) and Tommy Janton placed first in the 1:45.33. Daniel Knapp won 3-meter diving.
