Torri Huske Wins Honda Sport Award for Swimming and Diving
Torri Huske has been named the Honda Sport Award winner for Swimming & Diving for the Class of 2026, as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
Huske was selected via a nationwide vote of administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. The other finalists for this year’s award were teammate Lucy Bell, Claire Curzan (Virginia), and Sophie Verzyl (South Carolina).
“I am so honored to be selected as the Honda Sport Award winner for swimming & diving,” Huske told Stanford Athletics. “This year marked a large period of change for me, but I always had my teammates to lean on. They are my motivation, and I’m so excited to share this with them. This is just as much theirs as it is mine.”
Huske is the 11th Cardinal to win this award, joining Simone Manuel (2018), Katie Ledecky (2017), Felicia Lee (2014), Julia Smit (2010), Tara Kirk (2004), Misty Hyman (1998, 2001), Janel Jorgensen (1993), Summer Sanders (1992), Janet Evans (1990), Jenna Johnson (1986, 1989).
A redshirt senior from Arlington, Va., Huske was named the 2026 CSCAA Division I Swimmer of the Year after a standout season for Stanford. She captured three individual national titles at the NCAA Championships in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly, bringing her career total to five.
Huske posted the second-fastest times ever by a woman in both the 50 and 100 freestyle this season and is now a 28-time All-American and seven-time program record holder. She helped lead Stanford to a runner-up finish at the 2026 NCAA Championships and is a 19-time conference champion across the ACC and Pac-12.
A two-time U.S. Olympian, Huske has earned six Olympic medals (three gold, three silver) and 20 World Championship medals. Her success extends to the classroom, where she earned CSC Academic All-American recognition and CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
“What a remarkable achievement for Torri to be named one of the best student-athletes in the NCAA,” said coach Chris Lindauer. “As one of the best swimmers in the history of our sport, it was fantastic to see Torri wrap up her final college season with three individual NCAA titles. Torri gives it her all every day and is always searching for new ways to improve. Most importantly, her leadership for our team and our sport as a whole helps elevate and inspire future generations to dream.”
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025-26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation’s top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” Huske is now a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and Class of 2026 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
