Tierney Replaces Brackin as Co-Coach of Auburn’s Women’s Program

AUBURN, Ala., May 18. A few weeks after Kim Brackin resigned as co-coach of the women’s team at Auburn University, the Tigers have tabbed Dorsey Tierney as the individual who will help guide one of the premier programs in the nation.

Rick Greenspan, the Indiana University Director of Athletics, made the announcement Tuesday and indicated that Tierney would begin her tenure on June 1. Tierney will work alongside David Marsh, a role Brackin occupied from 2002-05. Brackin stepped down to dedicate more time to her family.

During her stint at Indiana, Tierney helped the Hoosiers to 99 All-American honors and 11 Big Ten Conference championships – nine individual and two relay. Last season, she helped Indiana place second in the team standings to Penn State at the Big Ten Championships.

In heading to Auburn, Tierney joins a program that has enjoyed significant success in recent years. The second-place finisher at the 2005 NCAA Championships, Auburn won three straight crowns from 2002-04.

"We appreciate Dorsey's dedication and commitment to the Indiana women's swimming and diving program," Greenspan said. "We wish her the best, and will begin our search for her successor immediately."
