Three Texas A&M Swimmers Take Down Mexican Records in Atlanta

Over the weekend at the arena Pro Swim Series stop in Atlanta, three Texas A&M swimmers took down Mexican national records. Read about the swims put up by Monika Gonzalez-Hermosillo, Mauro Castillo and Angel Martinez in the press release below.
Taking down Mexican national records were sophomore Monika Gonzalez-Hermosillo from the Aggie women’s squad and junior Mauro Castillo and sophomore Angel Martinez from the men’s team.
Gonzalez-Hermosillo, from Mexico City, Mexico, set the Mexican record in the women’s 200-meter IM with a time of 2:14.40 while taking runner-up honors in the race in Atlanta. Castillo, from Zacatecas, Mexico, lowered the men’s 200-meter breaststroke record to 2:12.94 while placing fifth in the race. Martinez, from San Nicolás de los Garza, Mexico, took down the men’s 200 IM record with a time of 2:02.31 in the prelims and then placed fourth in the final in 2:02.99.
