A busy stretch of senior-level international competition wrapped up earlier this month with the World Championships, Commonwealth Games and European Championships all held in quick succession. Not all of the world’s top performers were in the same place at the same time, but most of the world’s top swimmers finished with some big performances to start off the new Olympic cycle. We previously ranked the top 10 men’s swims, and now here are the best women’s efforts, with the only individual world record of the year topping the list – with a bit of leniency allowed for its May delivery. It’s been a fast and furious summer in international waters, with three major competitions highlighting the past few months, along with the United States Nationals. The Week That Was #3: USA Swimming Announces Selection Process for 2022 Short Course World Championships

USA Swimming has released its criteria for selecting swimmers for the 2022 Short Course World Championships in Australia.

The governing body of the sport in the U.S. released its national team earlier this week and the roster for Short Course Worlds, which takes place Dec. 8-12 in Melbourne, is expected to be released in October.

During a summer in which David Popovici was the talk of the sport, and rightfully so, the exploits of another European teenager were somewhat overlooked.

Over the past few months, Poland’s Ksawery Masiuk made it clear that he is a rising star on the international backstroke scene. While the stroke is stacked with headliners, it wouldn’t be shocking if Masiuk, a 17-year-old, contended for the podium in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. READ MORE…

Sometimes, great races are defined by down-to-wire finishes, where minuscule differences in time can separate a championship celebration from disappointment. In the case of our latest installment of the Swimming World series, Great Races, we look at a performance that was anything but close. Rather, it was the definition of a route.

Given the number of outstanding performances delivered at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, it is difficult to identify one effort above all else.
