The Morning Swim Show, June 12, 2012: Milt Campbell Ruled the Pool Before Winning Olympic Decathlon Gold
PHOENIX, Arizona, June 12. TODAY'S special edition of The Morning Swim Show features a look at International Swimming Hall of Fame Gold Medallion recipient Milt Campbell.
Campbell was most known for his against-all-odds gold medal in the decathlon at the 1956 Olympics, but he grew up around pools, finding much success as a competitive swimmer in an era where blacks were not very prominent in the sport. In his acceptance speech, Campbell relives some of his proudest swimming moments, and concludes with a recent story of triumph over adversity.
