Texas Longhorns Impress Again at Orange-White Meet; Corbeau Pops 1:53 200 Breast

The Longhorns set a pair of meet records in the seven individual swimming events contested on Friday at the Orange-White meet, a day after their first opportunity at racing since Big 12’s in February. Sophomore Caspar Corbeau topped the meet record in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:53.48), while freshman David Johnston set a meet record in the 1,000-yard freestyle (8:55.31). In the diving well, senior Jordan Windle swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events.

Friday Results

Junior Daniel Krueger started off Friday’s action with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle (42.07), while junior Drew Kibler (43.32) claimed second. Krueger’s time narrowly missed besting his own Orange-White meet record (41.99). This marked Krueger’s second individual event win of the meet, as he also claimed the 50-yard freestyle victory on Thursday.

Senior Austin Katz won the 200-yard backstroke (1:41.77). His time was just off his own meet record (1:41.68).

Sophomore Caspar Corbeau claimed the win in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:53.48), while sophomore Jake Foster (1:56.53) took second. Corbeau’s time set a meet record, shattering his own previous mark (1:55.49) by more than two seconds. This marked Corbeau’s second individual event win of the meet, as he also earned the 100-yard breaststroke victory on Thursday.

Freshman David Johnston won the 1,000-yard freestyle (8:55.31), while junior Alex Zettle placed second (8:58.54). Johnston’s time set a meet record, topping the previous mark set by Zettle (8:58.07). This marked Johnston’s second individual event win of the meet, as he also earned the 500-yard freestyle victory on Thursday.

Senior Jordan Windle captured the victory on the 1-meter springboard (193.50 points), while freshman Noah Duperre claimed second (178.70 points).

Junior Drew Kibler earned the win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.46), while freshman Coby Carrozza placed second (1:35.14) and junior Daniel Krueger took third (1:36.52).

Senior Alvin Jiang won the 100-yard butterfly (46.03), while senior Sam Pomajevich placed second (47.63) and sophomore Cole Crane took third (47.90). This marked Jiang’s second individual event win of the meet, as he also earned the 100-yard backstroke victory on Thursday.

Freshman Carson Foster claimed the 400-yard individual medley (3:41.32), while his older brother, sophomore Jake Foster, took second (3:44.49). This marked Carson Foster’s second individual event win of the meet, as he also earned the 200-yard individual medley title on Thursday. It also marked the first time the event was contested at the Orange-White meet.

The White team’s quartet of Caspar Corbeau (20.06), senior Luke Bowman (19.76), Alvin Jiang (19.33) and Daniel Krueger (19.42) won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:18.57).

Senior Jordan Windle capped off the meet with a win on the 3-meter springboard (206.30 points), while freshman Noah Duperre took second (171.53 points).
