Texas A&M Women Face Houston In Regular Season Home Finale

COLLEGE STATION, Texas–The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team will compete in its final home dual of the season against Houston at the Student
Rec Center Natatorium on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

The Aggies (7-4, 1-2) are currently riding a five-meet win streak. A&M began the streak with a 112-85 win over Division II national champion Truman
State in Florida earlier this month and has since beaten Kansas, No. 24 LSU, Louisiana-Monroe and Rice.

The Cougars (2-10) are mired in an eight-meet losing streak. Houston began the season at 2-2 with losses to Texas and LSU and wins over North Texas and
Louisiana-Monroe. One of the bright spots for Cougars is 2001 NCAA diving champion Yulia Pakhalina. Pakhalina has won 29 straight collegiate diving
competitions including both the one-meter and three-meter national titles.

A&M has been bolstered by senior All-American Clara Ho and a stable full of talented freshman. Ho has already earned a spot to the NCAA Championships
after swimming an A&M school record of 1:59.17 in the 200-yard butterfly against Kansas on Jan 13.

Aggie freshmen hold the top spot in 11 of the 14 individual events that A&M currently swims. Danielle Townsend has been a terror in the short sprints,
sweeping both the 50 and 100 free events several times this season. Tiffany Moore has been equally impressive in the longer freestyle swims, holding
A&M's top marks in the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 races. Courtney Patterson and Ashley Roark have really picked up the pace over the last month and
currently are the Aggies' top backstrokers and 200 medley racers. Kelsey Savage has been A&M's top athlete in the breasttroke for most of the season.

The Aggies will host the 2002 Big 12 Championships slated for Feb. 20-23 at the Student Rec Center Natatorium.
