Stanford freshman Taylor Ruck was probably the most hyped swimmer in the high school class of 2018 last year, as she is coming off a very successful long course season where she had the fastest time in the world in the 200 LCM free.

Ruck had a less than impressive start this semester as she had not put up anything spectacular this semester, including what she did at the Ohio State Invite this weekend in her inaugural season at Stanford.

Ruck silenced her critics on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, with a 46.21 to anchor Stanford’s winning 400 free relay as the Cardinal swam a 3:12.08. Ruck teamed with Amalie Fackenthal (48.73), Ella Eastin (48.40), Ashley Volpenhein (48.74) to put up the nation’s top time in the 400 free relay.

Ruck was a 1:44.73 in the 200 free at this meet, the fourth fastest time of the invitationals this weekend, and was a 51.70 in the 100 back, the fifth fastest time of the weekend. She was also a 22.12 in the 50 free, the fifth fastest time of the weekend.

Relay splits are hard to keep track of, but Simone Manuel and Mallory Comerford were the only swimmers to break 46 seconds in relay splits at NCAA’s with Manuel going 45.47 and Comerford going 45.74. Manuel split 45.45 and Missy Franklin went 45.98 in 2015. Megan Romano also split a 46.07 in 2012.
