Sydney Dawson Says “Roll Tide,” Commits to Alabama

Sydney Dawson, a backstroker and freestyler from Niceville, Fla., will be venturing a few hours north to Tuscaloosa next fall to continue her swimming career at the University of Alabama under head coach Dennis Pursley.

“University of Alabama is the perfect place for me to develop my full potential as a student athlete. The world class athletic and academic programs, the welcoming coaching staff, and the beautiful campus made this an easy decision for me. I can’t wait to swim at UA next year! ROLL TIDE!”

Dawson, who attends Niceville High School and competes for Coast Aquatics, figures to make her biggest impact with the Crimson Tide in the backstroke events and on sprint relays. She has best times of 58.03 in the 100 back and 2:04.10 in the 200 back.

She has also posted strong swims in the 50 free (24.80), 100 free (52.44), 200 free (1:52.72), 500 free (5:03.74) and 200 IM (2:09.56).
