Dryside Training: Exercises For Explosive Starts And Turns

I call it “free speed.” You can lower your best times without necessarily swimming any faster. Who doesn’t want that?!

Are you getting all the power and speed possible off the blocks and walls? If you’re not doing these or other exercises, you may be missing out on “free speed.”
In this article are four exercises that when performed weekly for several months, you should experience greater power off the blocks and walls. This added power enables you to create more speed coming out of your streamline.

Begin your leg program by performing two sets of 10 reps of each exercise. After three weeks, progress to three sets of 10 reps of each exercise. Perform the exercises three times a week for the first three weeks, then twice a week thereafter.

Train hard…and enjoy your “free speed.”
