Around the Table with Cullen Jones

Have you ever wondered how you can eat like a pro athlete? The “Around The Table” feature in Swimming World Magazine gives you access to how some of the best swimmers in the world are filling up. The world of nutrition can be murky and contradictory, so pull up a chair at this table of champions to understand why swim stars take food seriously.

Cullen Jones’ swimming career began after a near-drowning incident in Pennsylvania when he was 5 years old. Without the traumatic experience, he may have never learned to swim and become the memorable face of swimming success and drowning prevention that he is today.

Jones has a habit of peaking at the right time. In 2012, he had an explosive performance at Olympic Trials, winning the 50 free, taking second in the 100 free, and subsequently qualifying for the 4×100 free relay and the 4×100 medley relay. He walked away from the London Games with a silver in the 50 free and 4×100 free relay, and a gold from the 4×100 medley relay.

So, 12 years and four Olympic medals after his Pan Pacs victory, Jones is still making tsunamis as he blisters into the wall. But quite abit has changed since 2006. In May of 2017, Cullen married longtime girlfriend Rupi Desai. Rupi happens to be an extraordinary chef, and she generously shared a few of her favorite recipes with Swimming World.
