The SEC and ACC released their first lists of weekly swimmers and divers of the week this week after a large slate of dual meets and invites kicked the season off. Georgia swam at North Carolina, and three winners from each conference came from that event.

Georgia’s Chase Kalisz and Megan Kingsley were each named Swimmer of the Week for their efforts in the win at UNC. Kalisz won the 200 free and 200 breast, and Kingsley the women’s 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM. Both rank first nationally in at least one event. Freshman teammate Javier Acevedo was named SEC Male Freshman of the Week for his wins in the 100 back and 100 free in Chapel Hill.

Other SEC winners included Vanderbilt’s Saleh Peacock as Female Freshman of the Week and Misssouri’s Alexa Beckwith and Hunter Fritter as divers of the week.

In the ACC, UNC’s Hellen Moffitt was named Female Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100 back against Georgia and finishing a close second to Kingsley in the 100 fly. Tar Heel Teammates Alissa Dawson and Jack Nyquist earned Diver of the Week honors, and Virginia Tech’s Robert Owen was named Male Swimmer of the Week after he won the 200 back and both IMs at the Florida Gulf Coast Classic.
