Swim Poll of the Week: Do You Support the Creation of the World Swimming Association?

This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Wednesday, September 6, 2017, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: Do you support the creation of the World Swimming Association to replace FINA?

The results are in, and…

Here are the answers:

Yes (73%)

No (27%)

  1. Heather York DiFulvio

I’m not sure what the difference is between that and FINA so…..

There needs to be a choice for How the Hell Would I Know

One wonders how many votes made up this sample ?

    Would’ve been more interesting if:
    (1) the poll ran for a longer period/maybe allowed people more opportunity to acquaint themselves with the realities of this “WSA” rather than just a blind grab “FINA = bad (which it certainly is in many contexts); WSA will somehow make everything right”
    (2) there was another option; maybe “support the creation of a new governing body for the sport but do not support WSA”

Whilst I do not doubt the core sincerity of Messrs Block & Leonard; a less than 1/4 filled small hotel conference room for their launch doesn’t exactly indicate that they’ve grasped the attention let alone the support of major world players in the sport ……… and their talk of launching a professional circuit “Ring of Fire” is fantasy novel material
