Swedish National Championships Conclude Third Night of Competition With Women’s 400 Free Relay National Standard

HALMSTAD, Sweden, July 27. THE Vasby Simsallskap team of Ida Sandin (58.50), Josefin Lillhage (55.04), Petra Granlund (55.73) and Malin Svahnstrom (56.78) dropped nearly a second off the Swedish national standard in the women's 400 freestyle relay at the Swedish National Championships held in Halmstad.

The quartet clocked a time of 3:46.05 to drop the previous standard set by the club in 2005 of 3:46.79.

National record holder Lillhage also came within a second of her record time of 1:57.78 set earlier this summer with a winning time of 1:58.59 in the women's 200 free, while Carin Moller held off Erika Hegestig (1:05.54) and Elin Harnebrandt (1:05.86) to win the women's 100 backstroke in 1:04.96.

In the next final, Jonas Andersson easily captured the men's 200 breast in 2:17.27, while world record holder Therese Alshammar clocked a 25.87 to win the 50 fly, .41 seconds off her global standard time of 25.46 set in June.

Lars Frolander, the Swedish record holder in the men's 50 fly, touched first in that event with a time of 24.25, while Erik Dorch (24.62) and David Nordenlilja (24.74) rounded out the top three.

Hanna Eriksson emerged from a competitive pack in the women's 50 breast with a time of 32.25, while Rebecca Ejdervik (32.69) and Joline Hoglund (32.71) finished second and third, respectively.

Konstantin Sundin closed out the individual finals with a win in the men's 200 back when he stopped the clock in 2:07.32.
