Emma Weyant, who won the 400 IM in 2019 at U.S. nationals and was ranked sixth in the world that year, would have been a freshman at the University of Virginia this fall. Instead, she is deferring her enrollment to train one more year with the Sarasota Sharks and focus on the U.S. Olympic Trials.

The University of Wisconsin opened its new aquatic facility, the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center, on Oct. 1. The pool was originally set to be completed in 2019, but construction delays pushed the official opening date to the spring of 2020, which was then affected by COVID-19 closures.
