Svetlana Chimrova Lowers Own 100 Fly National Record at Russia Cup

Svetlana Chimrova broke her own 100 butterfly National Record today in Ruza, Russia at the 2016 Russia Cup. She stopped the clock in 57.78, just faster than her old mark of 57.79. The 20 year old set the old record in April at the Russian Nationals. Today, Natalia Lovtsova finished second in 58.65.

Daria K. Ustinova is on her way to sweeping the backstroke events this weekend. She posted a 29.09 in the 50 and a 2:11.10 in the 200. In the sprint, she was followed by Alexandra Papusha in 29.26 while in the 200, Irina Prikhodko grabbed second with a 2:13.82.

Veronika Popova led three women under two minutes in the 200 freestyle with a 1:57.53. Prikhodko touched second in 1:59.54, while Daria Mullakaeva slipped under the barrier with a 1:59.86.

In the men’s 50 butterfly Oleg Kostin stopped the clock in 23.31, just ahead of Nikita Korolev in 23.59. Kostin also touched first in the 50 breaststroke in 27.66.

Anastasia Ivanenko won the women’s 800 freestyle in 8:41.99. Ivan Kustov grabbed gold in the men’s 400 IM with a 4:22.04, just ahead of Egor Subbotin in 4:22.83.

With a 3:47.46 Alexander Red was the men’s 400 freestyle champion.
