PHOENIX, Arizona, May 8. IF you don't have a ticket to the London Olympics yet, you'll want to be awake at 11 a.m. London time on Friday to get one of the 928,000 tickets still available for most of the sports to be held there. Swimming's tickets won't go online until next Monday, May 14, but if your interest lies in sports outside the London Aquatic Center, you'll want to be one of the first to be in the mad online dash to get the tickets, which organizers say will sell out very quickly. Swimming is one of the big draws of the Olympics, and organizers are certain those tickets will sell out in a matter of minutes. If you're interested in watching the open water marathon swim, you're in luck, because seating for that event is free.
Zhang Lin is not giving up on his goal of competing at the Olympics. Chinese media is reporting that the reigning 400 freestyle silver medalist is going to the Chinese Youth championships this month to swim the 100, 200 and 400 freestyles. Zhang did not swim fast enough at the Chinese nationals last month to qualify for the Olympics, and the Chinese are allowing swimmers more than one opportunity to make the Olympic qualifying times.
