Stanford Women Led by Claire Curzan, Swim Past UCLA

Claire Curzan and Kayla Wilson led No. 3 Stanford in its 176-116 win over No. 24 UCLA on Friday afternoon.

With both teams entering the meet unbeaten, Stanford improved to 5-0 with this victory, winning all but one race and splitting the diving events.

Curzan and Wilson won two events each, with Cuzan winning the 50 free (22.52) and 200 back (1:51.04) and Wilson taking the titles in the 200 free (1:45.49) and 100 free (49.03).

Torri Huske switched things up and raced the 1000, finishing first with a 9:54.58, followed by Morgan Tankersly (9:55.52) in second and Natalie Mannion (10:04.46) in third. In the 500, Lillie Nordmann won with a 4:50.84.

Stanford swept the podium in four events: the 200 free with Wilson, Amy Tang (1:46.60) and Aurora Roghair (146.86), the 100 back with Lucie Nordmann (54.62), Gigi Johnson (55.63) and Lillie Nordmann (55.03), and the 200 back with Curzan, Taylor Ruck (1:55.90) and Mannion (1:56.89).

Lucy Bell took the title in the 200 fly (1:57.12) and Sam Tadder took it in the 200 breast (2:13.46). Johnson was only two hundredths of a second off her season best in the 100 fly at 53.61. In the 100 IM Charlotte Hook took the gold at 57.27, just over 1 one tenth of a second faster than the UCLA racer who finished second.

In the diving well, Lauren Burch took first in the 1-meter with a season high 305.80, while Julia Wortman and Emilie Moore took fifth and sixth respectively at 250.10 and 246.45. On the 3-meter, Moore took third at 294.75, followed by Burch in fourth at 286.80.
