Stacy Busack has been promoted to associate head coach for the Oakland University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams announced by head coach Pete Hovland on Thursday.

“I am happy to announce Stacy’s promotion to associate head coach,” said Hovland. “Her accomplishments to her assigned responsibilities over the past three seasons have surpassed my highest expectations at all levels. Her attention to detail on any and all tasks has been a tremendous asset to me, the student-athletes, the program and the department as a whole. I trust Stacy explicitly with running all facets of our program and I could not be happier. She is very deserving of this promotion.”

Busack spent the previous three season for the Golden Grizzlies as an assistant coach.

“I am deeply honored by the opportunity to continue working with Coach Hovland and our student-athletes as associate head coach,” added Busack. “When I moved here three years ago I could tell that Oakland was a special place. That feeling has only gotten stronger as I have seen how supportive Steve Waterfield and the rest of the athletic department is of the swimming and diving program. I am grateful and beyond excited to continue to strive for excellence with those I am fortunate to work with every day.”

Prior to her arrival in Rochester in July of 2016, Stacy Busack spent four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pittsburgh, Busack’s primary duties included working with the sprinters and assisting in recruiting for the women’s squad. Under Busack’s guidance, 25 women set school records during her time with the Panthers.

Prior to Pittsburgh, Busack spent four years as an assistant coach at her alma mater Minnesota. A 13-time All-American, University of Minnesota Hall of Fame inductee and Olympic Trial participant, Busack was one of the top freestyle swimmers in the country during her time as a Gopher from 2005-09. She was the Big Ten record holder in the 100-yard freestyle from 2009-14 – a mark which she set during her senior campaign.

Stacy Busack led the Gophers to the 2008 Big Ten team championship title and was an NCAA participant all four years of her career. She was a four-time Big Ten champion and collected 14 separate records at Minnesota. In the classroom, she was an Academic All-American and a three time Big Ten All-Academic performer.
