St. Cloud State vs. Wisconsin-Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin, November 12. THE Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams both won in dominating fashion Friday night against St. Cloud State in dual meet action at the Dorschel Natatorium. The Phoenix teams combined to win 23 of the meet's 26 events, as the women's squad picked up a 146-92 victory, while the men won 153-85.

On the women's side, junior Amy Burback (Waunakee, Wis.) won twice for the Phoenix, taking the 200-yard (1:56.74) and 500-yard (5:12.25) freestyle races. Senior diver Kayla Deters (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) was also a two-time winner for Green Bay, winning the 1-meter (259.15) and 3-meter (246.50) boards.

Other individual winners for the Phoenix women include: Deanna DeGrand (Green Bay, Wis.) in the 1000 free (10:38.31), Amber Bartholomew (Alexandria, Minn.) in the 400 IM (4:36.79), Shannon Demrow (Algonquin,Ill.) in the 200 fly (2:09.48), Lauren Caruso (DeForest, Wis.) in the 200 breast (2:25.55) and Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) in the 100 free (54.42).

Senior Ryan Loy (New London, Wis.) won two individual events for the Phoenix men, claiming the 50 free (21.78) and 200 fly (1:57.47). On the boards, three-time defending Horizon League Diver of the Week Daniel Pogue (Chisholm, Minn.) won the 1-meter (325.25) and 3-meter (314.60) dives. His score of 325.25 on the low board was the highest of his career.

Also winning for the Phoenix men were: Robert Gorycki (Prior Lake, Minn.) in the 1000 free (9:58.14), Brian Heiser (McFarland, Wis.) in the 200 free (1:45.39), Andrew Gelden (Kenosha, Wis.) in the 400 IM (4:13.74), Ryan McClure (Omro, Wis.) in the 200 back (2:01.38) and Robert Miner (Madison, Wis.) in the 500 free (4:54.32).

The Phoenix also swept the relay events as both squads improved to 4-1 in dual meets this season.

Green Bay and St. Cloud State square off again tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Dorschel Natatorium.
