Mykenzie Leehy has given her verbal commitment to the University of Houston.

Leehy, who trains with Council Bluffs Swim Club in Iowa is primarily a sprint freestyler. While her lifetime bests in her top events come from her sophomore season, she has been a 23.44 in the 50 and a 50.40 in the 100. That 100 freestyle time earned her the Iowa high school state record and state title while representing Lewis Central High School. She also adds a 1:51.00 in the 200 freestyle.

At the 2016 American Athletic Conference Leehy would have finished sixth in the 100 freestyle. She would have been a B finalist in her other top events. Her best 100 freestyle would also have made her Houston’s fastest at last year’s AAC Championships, making her a valuable relay asset when she arrives in Texas.
