Springfield College’s Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) and Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) were recognized by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for their impressive performances this past weekend against Coast Guard and URI, as the duo earned the conference’s weekly awards, announce on Monday.

Dyjak, returning to the Pride after being injured for the 2016-17 season, was named the NEWMAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while Skaza, fresh off a strong performance at last season’s NCAA Division III Diving Regionals, picked up right where she left off and was selected as the NEWMAC Women’s Diver of the Week.

Dyjak had a promising return to the pool in Springfield College’s tri-meet with the University of Rhode Island and Coast Guard on Saturday, as the graduate student sprinted to a win in the 50 free with a time of 24.74, won the 100 fly in 1:00.22, and took second in the 100 free in 54.48.

Skaza, a Psychology major at Springfield College, also had a strong showing in her first meet of the season, as the junior won the one-meter with a score of 230.00 and took first on the three-meter after totaling a score of 249.70.

Springfield College’s Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) started his collegiate diving career in impressive fashion, and was recognized by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), as he was named the Diver of the Week, announced on Monday.

Pennington, a Computer Graphics major at Springfield College, was outstanding in Springfield College’s dual meet with Coast Guard as he won the three-meter board with a score of 294.25, nearly 80 points ahead of the next diver. On the one-meter board, the first-year scored a 311.90, which proved to be almost 100 points ahead of the field.

Springfield College will return to the Art Linkletter Natatorium on Saturday, November 4 when the Pride will host MIT in a NEWMAC dual meet at 1 p.m.
