The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation has released a finalized Olympic roster. Spain will send 23 swimmers to the 2016 Games. In March, 11 athletes qualified at the 2016 Spanish Spring Championships. That list has since grown by 12.

The men will have 13 swimmers racing: Márkel Alberdi, Antonio Arroyo, Miguel Durán, Hugo González, Aitor Martínez, Víctor M. Martín, Bruno Ortiz-Cañavate, Miguel Ortiz-Cañavate, Carlos Peralta, Albert Puig, Joan LLuìs Pons, Marc Sánchez and Eduardo Solaeche.

In March, none of the men notched qualification times in more than one event. In this release, Bruno and Miguel Ortiz-Cañavate, Alberdi, Martinez, Puig, Sanchez, and Martin are all only listed for relays.

Two time Olympic silver medalist Mireia Belmonte leads the women, with qualification times in the 400 and 800 freestyles, 200 butterfly, and 200 and 400 IM.

She is joined by nine others: Patricia Castro, Melani Costa, Duane Da Rocha, Fatima Gallardo, Marta González, Judith Ignacio, Jessica Vall, María Vilas and África Zamorano.

Zamorano qualified for three events in March: the 200 backstroke, and 200 and 400 IM. Da Rocha was the 2014 European Champion in the 200 backstroke. Vall took 200 breaststroke bronze at last summer’s World Championships and is the Spanish record holder in the event.

Gonzalez, Gallardo, and Castro are listed as relay only swimmers in the release.
