Simone Manuel Visits ESPN, Joins Numerous Programs

On Thursday, Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel visited ESPN’s campus in Bristol, Conn., as her post-Games media tour continues.

Manuel was given ESPN’s “car wash,” appearing on a variety of shows including Mike and Mike, multiple editions of SportsCenterHis and Hers and Outside the Lines.

Manuel’s other recent appearances have included multiple stints at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York City, an spot on NBC’s Today and serving as an honorary captain at the Houston Texans’ third preseason game Saturday in her hometown.

While many of Manuel’s Olympic teammates have already returned to school, Stanford runs on the quarter system and does not begin its academic year until late September. Manuel will be a junior academically and a sophomore in swimming after redshirting this past college season to train for Olympic Trials.

With Manuel and Katie Ledecky joining fellow Olympian Lia Neal, defending 200 and 400 IM NCAA champion Ella Eastin and Olympic diver Kassidy Cook on Stanford’s roster, the Cardinal will be favored at the women’s NCAA championships this coming March.
