Simone Manuel blasted to the third fastest 50 free of 2017 to swim a 24.27 for the win on Saturday night at the Phillips 66 USA Swimming Nationals. Manuel now sits third in the world rankings behind Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (23.83) and Denmark’s Pernille Blume (24.13). Manuel picks up her second event for Budapest after getting second in the 100 free on Tuesday. Manuel will be joined in Budapest by Abbey Weitzeil who had a disappointing 100 earlier in the week. Weitzeil swam the 50 and 100 in Rio but will only swim the 50 this summer.

Weitzeil held off Lia Neal for the second spot as Neal finished in third at 24.77. Kelsi Worrell (24.79), Olivia Smoliga (24.84), Mallory Comerford (24.93), Madison Kennedy (24.95) and Grace Ariola (25.03) also swam in the A-final.
