Sharli Brady, Carter Griffin Lead Tigers To Victory

The Missouri Tigers (No. 13 men, No. 19 women) had no trouble with in-state rival Missouri State. The Tigers won 22 of 26 individual events.

The Missouri women won 188-51, improving their record to 4-2. The Tiger men took their record to 6-1 with a 152-84 victory.

The meet started with the 400-yard medley relay. In the women’s race, the Missouri team of backstroker Nadine Laemmler, breaststroker Abby Duncan, butterflier Erin Metzger-Seymour and freestyler Anna Patterson won with a time of 3:43.98.

In the men’s event, backstroker Carter Griffin, breaststroker Fabian Schwingenschlogl, butterflier Andrew Sansoucie and freestyler Matthew Margritier led the Tigers to victory. The relay team posted a time of 3:17.91.

Sharli Brady led the Tigers with two individual wins. The sophomore won the 400-yard individual medley by over nine seconds with a time of 4:20.55. She also took the 200-yard, posting a time of 2:01.19. Kira Zubar also had two individual wins for the Tiger women.

On the men’s side, Clark Thomas led the way for the Missouri men. The senior won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Carter Griffin also had a strong day. Along with helping the Tigers win the 400-yard medley relay, the junior also won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:49.38.

Uvis Kalnins had a strong day for the Missouri State team. The senior won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.71 and finished second in the 400-yard, touching in 3:58.31. No Missouri State women won events.

The day ended with the 200-yard freestyle relay.

In the women’s race, Missouri’s team of Rachel Hayden, Iliana Jones, Maddie Gehrke and Patterson touched in 1:34.07, three seconds ahead of the second place team. The Tiger men won with a time of 1:22.22. Their team consisted of Margritier, Sansoucie, Luke Mankus and Christian Aragona.

The Tiger women are back in action on Jan. 28 against Vanderbilt.
