Share a Memory of Resilience to Honor Brent Rutemiller
Brent Rutemiller was a longtime influential figure in the swimming community, excelling in the sport as an athlete and coach, and eventually serving as the Publisher of Swimming World Magazine, and then as the CEO of the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Last June, after a three-year battle, Brent lost his battle with cancer. He fought from Day One, never allowing his diagnosis to bring him down. He displayed resilience on a daily basis.
Friday would have been Brent’s 69th birthday. Every birthday, Brent liked to match his age with the amount of yardage he logged in the pool. So, if you get the chance to dive into a pool on Friday, think about Brent and what he gave to the sport. Share your swim on social media and be sure to use the following hashtags to celebrate Brent. #BResilient and #314birthdayswim
Before you take that plunge into the pool to celebrate Brent, you can also leave a message about how Brent showed resilience, or share a moment from your aquatics journey that showed resilience. Brent was always proud of those who battled, dug deep and owned a can-do attitude. Click on the link above to honor Brent. He’ll be smiling down, his pride beaming.
