Ryan Murphy never ceases to amaze. The Cal post grad swimmer won the 100 back final on Friday night at the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series in Mesa with a 53.98 to beat Matt Grevers (54.51). Murphy was out in a 26.67 and came back in a 27.31 as he almost even split a 100 back. It isn’t uncommon to see splits that close together in a 100 back, but Murphy was the only one in the field in Mesa tonight to get his two 50’s that close together.

Murphy also won the 200 back last night. His Cal teammate Jacob Pebley also swam in the final tonight as he placed fourth with a 54.88.

Mark Nikolaev (54.77), Zachary Poti (56.24), Youssef Said (56.47), Nikkos Sofianidis (56.70) and Joey Reilman (57.12) also swam in the A-final.
