Just five one-hundredths off his time in this event from last year’s January Pro Swim Series, Cal’s Ryan Murphy won the 200 backstroke in 1:56.16. Daniel Carr (1:58.46) won a close battle for second throughout the race over Bryce Mefford (1:59.50) and Joey Reilman (2:01.35).
Mason Manta Rays’ Noah Young picked up his Olympic Trials cut in this event (2:01.35) for the fifth-place finish. He was followed by Josh Zakala (2:03.38), Carson Foster (2:05.02) and Nathan Hayes (2:07.47).
