Kliment Kolesnikov of Russia etched his name further into the FINA record books by lowering his own World Junior Record (WJR) in semi-finals of the men’s 200 back.

Kolesnikov topped semi-final two with a time of 1:55.15 to sneak past his previous 1:55.49 from this past spring. That time was posted at the 2017 Russian Championships. His time qualifies him fourth going into tomorrow night’s finals behind China’s Xu Jiayu (1:54.79), USA’s Ryan Murphy (1:54.93), and fellow Russian Evgeny Rylov (1:54.96).

Semi-final splits:

  • 27.03, 29.04, 29.67, 29.41 = 1:55.15

Additionally, he owns the 50 (24.94) and 100 (53.65) back world junior records.
