Rising Stars Claire Curzan and Torri Huske Set For Another Showstopping Evening

Expectations will be high for the final day of finals at the TAC Titans Premier Invitational after Claire Curzan and Torri Huske positioned themselves to each contest a pair of races during the evening session. Over the past two days, Curzan and Huske have demonstrated why they are hyped as rising stars and Olympic Games hopefuls for the United States.

Curzan, who popped a 56.20 performance in the 100-meter butterfly on Saturday night, qualified first in the 100 backstroke on Sunday, behind a time of 1:00.22. Given the way she has dropped time during the weekend from prelims to finals, Curzan is expected to be in the 59-second range at night. Meanwhile, Huske will be expected to deliver a strong 200 individual medley after coasting through the prelims in 2:18.04. Already this weekend, Huske has been 56.69 in the 100 fly and 53.46 in the 100 freestyle.

Curzan and Huske will meet head-to-head in the 50 freestyle and tied during prelims with matching marks of 25.26. Can either – or both – of them crack the 25-second barrier at night? It seems well within reach.

Two months shy of the United States Olympic Trials, it is looking more and more likely that Curzan and Huske can earn berths to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
