25-year-old reigning Olympic 200 IM silver medalist Siobhan O’Connor is notably missing from the entry lists for the 2021 British Olympic Trials that are set for April 14 – 18 at the London Olympic pool. O’Connor won silver in Rio in the 200 IM five years ago and also swam butterfly on Great Britain’s seventh place finishing medley relay at the last Olympics.

O’Connor was expected to swim the 200 IM at Trials where Abbie Wood and Alicia Wilson are now the top two seeds, as well as potentially the 200 freestyle or 100 butterfly where Freya Anderson and Alys Thomas lead the entries.

Swimming World has reached out to British Swimming for confirmation regarding O’Connor’s absence from the entry lists. Each event at the meet has been limited to only three heats as the meet will be swum in a bubble-type format due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Worlds medalists Adam PeatyJames WilbyDuncan Scott and Luke Greenbank have already solidified their spots for Tokyo based on their 2019 results.

Also noticeably absent was fourth place 200 breast finisher from Rio Chloe Tutton as Molly Renshaw is the top seed in the 200 breast.
