With Michael Phelps having fun down in Austin last month, unofficial time trials are all the rage in the swimming community.  Today, during a timed swim in practice, Michigan’s Dylan Bosch uncorked a 1:57.59 in the 200-meter fly.

That would be his fourth-fastest career time and would put him 12th in the world rankings if it was an official swim.  His top time ever is a 1:56.92 from the South African National Championships in 2014.

Bosch was unable to attend the open portion of the Canadian Trials this week along with the bulk of other Michigan swimmers due to some visa issues, so his team decided to cheer him on as he unleashed a 200-meter fly time today.

Luckily for the swimming community, program director Tim Hochradel was on hand to catch the footage for everyone to see.

Bosch also clocked a 53.23 in the 100-meter fly.

At least he didn’t have to pay his own way to the meet (presuming it was in Ann Arbor!)
