NEW COMMIT: The University of South Carolina Gamecocks have secured a verbal commitment from Emma Scheider, a fairly versatile swimmer from Swim Atlanta. Scheider is a senior at Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia where she is a captain of the school team.

Scheider had huge drops across the board last year. Her best times now are (followed by where they were at the start of her junior year):

  • 200 Fly 2:04.89 (2:08.98)
  • 200 Back 2:01.18 (2:04.22)
  • 200 Free 1:51.94 (1:54.02)
  • 100 Fly 57.62 (58.21)
  • 100 Back 57.85 (59.07)
  • 100 Free 53.29 (53.93)

At the Georgia State club Championships in December Scheider was runner up in the 200 backstroke. A Winter Juniors qualifier, Scheider continued the success into the long course season posting lifetime bests in all of those events again.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American told Swimming World about her decision,

“I’m SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of South Carolina! I wouldn’t be here without the support I’ve received from my family, friends, and coaches. I can’t wait to work with such as incredible team and coaching staff! #spursup”

She’ll join Rachel LeeMari Kraus and Emma Walker in Columbia next fall.
