Of course we know the lactate analyzer is never going to replace that guy on deck screaming his lungs out. But according to Jonty Skinner, coach of the San Jose Aquatics, it can provide valuable information on your swimmers, so much so, that you might want to consider it a new-age, metalized assistant coach. Skinner and his human assistants have used a lactate analyzer over the past two years to help them set up their training season. An article beginning on page 7 details some of their findings.
