On the cover

Running a facility such as the Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis Natatorium takes more than a clipboard, a whistle and a chemical test kit. Even the manager of a small commercial pool must have a good grip on many skills.

Some of those skills are examined in this issue, from maintaining chemical balance to marketing your pool. IUPUI’s natatorium director, Dale Neuburger, even gets into the act with his article beginning on page 20.

The IUPUI facility, as close as any in the United States to being state-of-theart, is also featured in the first-ever New Pools section, beginning on page 25. The site for this summer’s National Sports Festival as well as U.S. Swimming Nationals, the natatorium was a center of attraction at the Recreonicsorganized International Aquatic Conference, reported on on page 30.
