Poll of the Week: How Should USA Swimming Allocate Prize Money for the Grand Prix Meets?

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 15. THE Charlotte Grand Prix took place last weekend, and what sets this Grand Prix series apart from the FINA World Cup is the amount of money awarded to swimmers.

The USA Swimming Grand Prix only gives one prize award: to the overall points winner of the series, regardless of gender, whereas the World Cup has cash prizes for the top three in each race, as well as money for the top three points scorers, in each gender. How do you think USA Swimming should allocate prize money for the Grand Prix? Should they continue to award just the overall points winner, should they give a cash prize to the overall winner and hand out per-race cash prizes, should they only give out per-race cash prizes or not give out any money at all? Go to swimmingworldmagazine.com/poll now to place your vote. We'll let you know the results in next week's show.

In our May issue of Swimming World Magazine, Brent Rutemiller calls for the NCAA to throw out the formula that limits the number of swimmers at the men's and women's spring championships. We wanted to know if you agreed with him on that topic, and it appears the majority of our readers are on his side.

70.19 percent voted yes in our poll, that the cap should be removed. Almost 30 percent, 29.81 percent to be exact, said the cap should stay in place.
