POLL: How Many World Records Will Be Broken Between European Champs and Pan Pacs? (VOTE HERE!)

The week ahead is sure to be fascinating, with the European Championships (Aug. 10-16) and Pan Pacific Championships (Aug. 12-15) unfolding simultaneously in Paris and Irvine. The world’s best swimmers will be in action, from Summer McIntosh and Katie Ledecky at Pan Pacs to Leon Marchand and Sarah Sjostrom at the European Champs. As events wrap up, comparisons will quickly be made between events.

There is a strong likelihood that world records will be broken over the next week, but how many? McIntosh set a world record earlier this year in the 200-meter butterfly, the Canadian taking down a standard she targeted for some time. She’s also the world-record holder in the 400 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley. Will she better any of those marks at Pan Pacs?

In Europe, Germany’s Lukas Maertens is the world-record holder in the 400 freestyle, and the only man to go under 3:40 in the event. Could Maertens bring his mark a bit lower? The intrigue certainly exists and fans of the sport are in for some quality racing between the French capital and Southern California.

Swimming World wants to know: How may world records do you think will be broken between competition at the European Championships and the Pan Pacific Championships? Vote in the poll below!
