Polish Short Course Championships: Aleksandra Urbanczyk Clips Pair of National Records
GORZOW WIELKOPOLSKI, Poland, November 28. POLISH records kept on falling at the Polish Short Course Championships during the third day of competition.
Aleksandra Urbanczyk lowered her own national record in the women's 100 IM with a time of 59.29. She previously set the record with a 59.53 during earlier swimming yesterday. She then beat the women's 50 back record with a 26.94. Klaudia Nazieblo broke Urbanczyk's 2008 record of 27.75 with a 27.65 during prelims.
Konrad Czerniak followed with a national mark in the men's 100 free. He clocked a 46.63 to smash Bart Kizierowski's standard of 47.75 set back in 1999. Adam Plutecki twice lowered the men's 50 breast national record with a 26.46 in prelims and a 26.19 in finals. He held the previous record of 26.90 from two weeks ago.
Marcin Tarczynski posted a 53.47 in the men's 100 IM during prelims to beat Plutecki's national record of 53.88 from October.
In other events, Karolina Szczepaniak won the women's 400 free in 4:09.11 to set a national age group record for 17 and 18 year olds. Pawel Korzeniowski won the men's 200 fly in 1:51.32. Maciej Hreniak topped the men's 1500 free in 14:46.12.
In relay action, Alicja Tchorz, Mirela Olczak, Paulina Zachoszcz and Jagoda Jessa won the women's 200 medley with a 1:53.48. That crushed the previous national record of 1:56.70. In the men's 400 medley relay, Jakub Jasinski, Plutecki, Tomasz Rumianowski and Kawecki won in 3:14.07, also smashing the national standard of 3:17.45.
