The 2019 Golden Goggles Awards show happened Sunday night in Los Angeles, California as USA Swimming was celebrating the year 2019. There were eight awards up for grabs as : Dressel and Simone Manuel were named as swimmer of the year.

Swimming World’s Taylor Brien was in the venue at the JW Marriott at LA Live and was providing photos from Golden Goggles the red carpet.

Dressel and Regan Smith claimed the race of the year honors as they both broke world records this summer in the 100 fly and 200 backstroke respectively. Smith also won the breakout performer of the year and was a part of the relay performance of the year. Her coach Mike Parratto was named the coach of the year.

Golden Goggles Award Winners:

Female Athlete of the Year: Simone Manuel
Male Athlete of the Year: Caeleb Dressel
Relay Performance of the Year: Women’s 4×100 medley relay (Regan Smith, Lilly King, Kelsi Dahlia, Simone Manuel)
Coach of the Year: Mike Parratto
Perseverance Award: Nathan Adrian
Breakout Performer of the Year: Regan Smith
Male Race of the Year: Caeleb Dressel’s 100 fly world record
Female Race of the Year: Regan Smith’s 200 back world record
